INFORMATION  ON  THE  PREPARATION

OF NCM10 PROCEEDINGS

Dear colleagues, dear NCM10 participants,

With the end of the preceding year the most important work connected with the preparation of NCM10 Proceedings has been finished:

First of all we have managed that all contributions which have been submitted during NCM10 conference were distributed to reviewers. Reviewers have been in greater part the members of the Publication Committee (PuC). I really appreciate that with one exception all reviews have been returned to the ICARIS office approximately by the end of October.

This fact enabled that authors had a sufficient time of about 3 weeks for the editing of their papers. The most complicated work has been with papers, which have been rejected in the “first approximation”, however, their authors have undertaken a massive rewriting, in order to be included in the Proceedings. These papers have been again sent again to reviewers in order to receive their approval.

In this way we have achieved that the reviewing and editing process with the majority of papers has been accomplished in the end of November. These authors have received a “Letter of Recommendation” (LoR) on the basis of which they were allowed to enter the EES submitting system of the Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids (JNCS).

To summarize: During the preparation of the conference we have received 220 abstracts of proposed papers, of which 208 were accepted for presentation at the conference. Finally, however, 150 have been really presented (16 invited, 52 oral and 82 poster contributions). From this number only 87 papers have been submitted for the NCM10 Proceedings, finally, after reviewing, 77 contributions have been recommended for publication in the JNCS (see the accompanying List).

I am happy to announce that shortly before X-mas I have received information from Catherine J. Simmons (Technical Editorial Assistant of the JNCS) that all above mentioned 77 papers will be the next to receive editing, which should be during the next two weeks. Then they will be released to Elsevier (Amsterdam) for printing, and proofs will be sent to authors.

With this fact in mind I consider my task as Chairman of the Publication Committee to be finished and fulfilled. My thanks are due to all members of the PuC and to several other reviewers for effective collaboration, which has led to an accomplishment of this assignment.
